Giving Back To Our Community
The owners, proprietors, and caretakers of Cow Camp in Fort Davis are firm believers in giving back to their local communities. In addition to supporting many areas within the local Fort Davis community, the below organizations are near and dear to their hearts. They wanted to share them with you to help spread awareness of the causes, needs and diseases these organizations are dedicated to fixing.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF)
- Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of approximately 30,000 people in the U.S. alone, making it one of the most common life-shortening, inherited conditions despite its classification as an Orphan Disease (one which affects a relatively small population). Today, thanks to continued foundation-supported research and specialized care, the median age of survival is almost forty years — more than double that of just a generation ago!
- In collaboration with Coastal Flow Measurement Companies, Fort Davis Cow Camp (FDCC) developed an online auction due to the cancellation of their live “Crawin’ for the Cure” crawfish cookoff and raised over $100,000 in 2020 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
- FDCC plans to continue raising awareness and funds for CFF through the Crawin’ for the Cure Online Auction (https://crawinforthecure.com/) on an annual basis.
- FDCC passionately supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s goal of fully curing this terrible disease…and adding “tomorrows” every day to the lives of people with CF.
NY Food Bank
- New York was hit hard and early in our nation by the COVID-19 pandemic
- With unemployment skyrocketing and families literally going hungry, the New York Food Bank was doing all they could do to provide food and support within their community.
- They were the last stop for many families
- The owner of FDCC made a $1,000 contribution to help assist families who needed help during this crisis
Houston Food Bank
-
The Houston Food Bank (HFB) has an outstanding reputation for helping feed the hungry year-round and especially during periods when our community needs help the most.
- During Hurricane Harvey and more recently the COVID-19 pandemic, HFB fed thousands of families who without their help would have simply gone hungry.
- The owner of Fort Davis Cow Camp believes that “Those who can help…Should!” and strongly supports The Houston Food Bank during times of crisis within our community.
-
- The owner of FDCC made an initial $5,000 donation to the food bank when the pandemic struck
-
- He has pledged an additional $500 for every game that the Houston Astros win this year and an additional $100 for every homerun hit, during the regular and post season.
